Welcome to St George Montessori Engadine
Our child care centre is conveniently located in Engadine on Woronora Road, just off the Princes Highway. We have been educating children for over fifteen years and our goal is to create a warm and inviting environment that engages with each child.
Recently updated, our Engadine Early Learning Centre uses the Montessori approach to education founded by Dr Maria Montessori. Every area of the centre has been thought out to encompass this curriculum and to develop knowledge and skills that provides the foundation of a life long love for learning.
Our core Montessori curriculum covers areas such as practical life skills, sensory development, literacy and numeracy, science, geography and art. These areas provide the best foundation as students prepare for their transition to school. To support our Montessori learning, we also follow the EYLF supported by the National Quality Framework to enhance and to provide a holistic learning experience for each child.
Children ages 3 to 6 are provided with an extensive school readiness program. We provide a technology based learning program including early literacy and numeracy experiences such as Reading Eggs and Study Ladder, which can be accessed from our classroom desktop computers. We also have relationships with local public schools which enhances our transition program.
As part of the Montessori philosophy, our centre is passionate about sustainability and this is embedded in our program. We encourage nature play, growing and caring for the vegetable garden, collecting eggs from the chickens, learning about recycling and caring for the world around us (our preschool room even has reptiles and our centre is also home to two Guinea Pigs). We also use our centre grown eggs and vegetables in our meals.
At St George Montessori we provide a home-like environment and encourage family participation.
