Our Dedication to Child Safety

We are deeply committed to our responsibilities and statutory duty of care, complying with the NSW Child Safe Standards. This commitment underpins our capacity as an organisation to actively prevent and respond to any allegations of child abuse.

  • Rigorous Team Selection: Our recruitment process includes thorough screening, in depth interviews, reference checks and conducting verified Working With Children Checks (WWCC) every 6 months (not just upon hire). In addition to these we cross check all new employees with the prohibited persons register through the NQAITS portal.
  • In depth induction procedure with all new employees, students and tradespeople to outline our policies and procedures and set clear expectations when it comes to Child Safety.
  • Ongoing Child Protection and Child Safe Standards Training: Every member of our team receives comprehensive child protection training frequently, ensuring they are always equipped with the latest knowledge and best practices.
  • Constant, Careful Supervision: We maintain consistent supervision protocols to ensure children's safety and wellbeing are at the foundation of everything we do.
  • Empowering Every Child's Voice: We cultivate a genuine child-safe culture where children feel heard, respected, and fully supported in expressing themselves and their feelings.
  • Continuous Oversight: Our commitment to safety is ongoing, reinforced by regular leadership reviews and thorough safety audits.

Our Commitment to Promoting Diversity and Safety

At St George Montessori we're deeply committed to creating a truly safe, inclusive, and empowering environment for every single child in our care.

Here’s how we make that promise real:

  • Championing Cultural Safety and Diversity: We are dedicated to ensuring cultural safety for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and those from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds. We also provide a specifically safe and supportive environment for children with varied abilities.
  • Empowering Children: We empower them with the knowledge and confidence to speak up if they ever feel unsafe, and we consistently encourage them to express their thoughts and views on matters that affect them.
  • Highly Trained Team: All staff, educators, volunteers, and students undertake child protection and child safe standards training in order to understanding their obligations as mandatory reporters and how they can ensure the safety and wellbeing of each child is met.
  • Anti-Bullying: We do not tolerate bullying or harassment, with clear policies and preventative strategies in place. Our priority is always to ensure children's wellbeing and to foster positive interactions.
